Arthritis Relief Tips
There are as many arthritis pain relief methods as there are types of arthritis. That is
why each person can find the arthritis relief that works best for them. Not every person will
experience the same things a rheumatoid arthritis symptom may effect a person differently then
someone who suffers from a different type of arthritis, like psoriatic arthritis or knee
arthritis. No matter what method of arthritis pain relief a person uses, though, there are
general tips that one can follow to reduce the pain and help the overall condition. The
following lists tips on what a person can easily do and how they can alter their life to
adjust more easily to arthritis symptoms.
- Learn the best way to move. Using proper body mechanics is essential to minimizing
damage and keeping joints healthy. A person may have to go to therapy to learn the correct
way to move.
- Maintain a healthy body weight. Extra weight only adds to the stress on joints. By
getting the body weight down to the recommended weight is one of the best things a person
can do to combat arthritis pain.
- Get organized. Many people do not realize but they waste a lot of time and energy trying
to find things. If a person stays organized and keeps everything where they do not have to
look for it they will minimize the need for bending and stretching and every other awkward
body movement that happens when searching for something that can really cause an arthritis
flair up.
- Choose clothing carefully. Certain things like buttons and zippers can become difficult
to use when arthritis is at its worst. It is [puts unneeded stress on the fingers and hands.
A person should consider clothing with snaps or elastic in stead of buttons and zippers.
- Always warm up before working out. The small, simple movements done during warming up
get the muscles and joints ready for the rigors of exercise. If a person does not warm up
they risk injury or trauma to the muscles and joints which only aggravates arthritis, not
help it.
- When using heat to help combat arthritis symptoms a person can try making a homemade
heating pad. This type of heating pad does not have a cord that can be cumbersome to use.
Instead, fill a clean old sock with rice and heat in the microwave. The rice hold the heat
and provides a nice heat similar to any electric heating pad. This same thing can be put in
the freezer to make a cold pack, too.
People who suffer from arthritis are constantly looking for ways to get relief. These
tips are only a few of the many that can help a person lead a normal life even when they
suffer from arthritis. Arthritis relief is all about accommodating oneself to allow for less
stress on the joints, reducing inflammation and easing pain. Anything a person can do for a
little arthritis relief is a good thing.
